How are you coping with the hot snap?

Today was hot but tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. So much so that there has been a warning has been issued by our benevolent overlords. No doubt the Daily Fail will be along shortly attributing a death toll to this hot snap.

    Did you get burnt?

Have you checked on elderly relatives and neighbours to make sure they're drinking enough water?

Have you marked down today's date in the diary as being the summer for 2017 so future generations will know which day the summer was in this particular year?

Myself I am well prepared, even have a frozen hat and t-shirt draped over a mannequin inside in the freezer so I'll stay cool for the 10 minute walk to the shop tomorrow for me Lucozade orange & box of wedges with mustard.

    By enjoying it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I am hiding in my home, lying down, with a fan upon me. I hate it. I've been arranging my days so I get stuff done early in the day & can just come home & work inside for the rest of the day.

I'm convinced I overdosed on heat at one point in my childhood (we lived in a v. hot country for a year) because I've detested it ever since. I vividly remember lying on a bed at the age of 8 literally wishing I could die as it was so hot.

It's kind of a humid heat we tend to get up here, always found I take to the Med dry heat much easier. Of course everywhere is air conditioned down there also.

I took the remote control for the air conditioner down from the holder on the wall and put it on my desk.

2 sick days and will be back in Friday with a serious tan/burnt to death. Horrible side effects of a stomach bug tho.

It was a lot warmer here six weeks ago, I thought the days of us getting a day off school to go to the beach because there was a couple of snow flurries in Dublin were long gone.

Really enjoyin the last two days. A trip to the beach yesterday with the toddler and today spent out the back with a paddling pool, big umbrella and loads of water.

So where should I be looking for you while you're showering?

Big tip is to leave curtains closed at home while at work, the house will be nice and cool when you return. Worth tying, there is a reason the Spanish do that.

By suffering through the worst dose of hayfever i've ever known. Blasting sunshine and heatwave can go take a running jump as far as i'm concerned. I'd pay to see some rain.

Getting cheap thrills from leaving the house the last two evenings without a jacket or cardigan. That's living on the edge in Ireland.

So we're just ignoring the fact that this guy has a mannequin in his freezer?

    Cool.

I'm working outside in it! Yesterday was about the 6th circle of hell, today wasn't that bad with the easterly breeze for most of the day but tomorrow is threatening to be the 9th level and I've decided to take it off (luckily I have some flexibility on days) and will enjoy a much cooler Thursday in the sun.

That said it could be worse, 26 here beats 34 in London.

If the stifling heat begins to annoy me, I think about those 8 months of the year when it's cold and dark for 23 hours a day. Then I feel better.

Sunshine and heat have been great, the weekend was glorious. It's the 4 buses a day to work and back that really kill me in any kind of heat.

Humidity is a different level, and am not able to deal with it at all, therefore am dreading tomorrow :(

But I welcome the sun and some of the heat!

It's that kinda weather where you shower about 5 times and still feel icky and sweaty.

Like many I've sensitive skin so try to contain the amount of rays I get. Went for a hike at the weekend for 3 hours and out for an hr here and there for cutting grass, cleaning car etc.

Getting sunburnt is not worth it folks so throw on that factor 50.

The three and a half days we got were good. Cloudy now and a few raindrops falling...won't make much. Summer's over after tomorrow anyway. Time to order oil for winter.

Factor 50 ??? Jaysus, i wouldn't even need that for the tip of my............. nose.

I love the good weather. I adore sunshine. Or at least used to.
Twins aged 2 put an abrupt end to that enjoyment.
Went to the beach at the weekend and purposely picked a spot away from people.
Within 30 mins we were surrounded. A few teenage girls even sat right next to us with music blaring despite half the beach being empty.
But another 40 mins later after the kids decided to voice their disapproval to the intense heat and awful music, we had a 2 mile exclusion zone all around us.
Even the teenagers buggered off with their poxy music eventually after losing the audio war.
One slightly older fella was in such a hurry to escape that he forgot his flip-flops.
I felt bad for a second but then recalled that we had intentionally picked a secluded spot to start with.
Then I sort of found it funny how we had been left on our own again by everyone.
And lastly, I just felt sad that I couldn't go with them.

Mostly stuck in a stuffy office sweating buckets since then. Much better.
