    LR3

The LR3 is great practical car - geat for towing or tranporting stuff - And when working well motors on motorway very nicely on its air suspension. With seats down flat in back it has an enourous boot - think 2 meters long storage capacity.

But they are VERY VERY expensive to keep well maintained.

Ive had two in family for past 8 years

    Faults.

    1. E Parking brake - lots of issues on both cars, either squaeeling when applying or one one case not - releasing.
    2. I've had to rebuild gearbox manual once (2k). And one other time a little C-clip went in manual box - could not get car into reverse - cheap fix when probelm is known. Pushing it backwards out of Dive is very hard work - very heavy car.
    3. Tail gate - release mechanism failed.
    4. Compressors - original Hitachi ones fail after 8 or so years - recon. units are 400 EURO plus.
    5. Main lights - on 05 model were not protected with a fuse, but with a "FET" feild effect transistor. Problem was FET damaged - quoted 800 euro for new body control moudle to fix that one. - A car elecrician did a rewire and relay to bypass this issue.
    6. Centre Prop shaft - bearing. THe bearing is 40 UK pounds, but unless you have very specialised equipement you can't fit- Landrover quote 800 for new propshaft - they wont replce bearing.
    7. Keyfob stopped working one one - 300 EURO new Keyfob.

There are lots of expensive service parts too - tyres are expensive, timing belt (two belts to be replaced at same time), etc.

And numerous other smaller issues - I have a stack of invoices to proove.

But it is a really good car can transport 7 adults in comfort, has a high driving position os you see the road, the airsuspension makes Irish roads seem smooth.

If you want to run one thety are great - be prepared to shell out to keep it working.
