So spent Sat looking at a few SUV's and got a good deal on a Kia Sportage Platinium 172 with trade in. Looked at all the online reviews etc but just something about it I don't like, but seems to tick most family requirement boxes.
Also looked at Seat Ateca so comparing it to that and I prefer look and feel of that but just looking for user opinion on the KIA.

I have a 161 KIA Sportage which i find great for a long commutes, very comfortable. One negative i find, it's very low down from the front in the driver and passenger sides, so if you're tall you will just about have enough head room depending on seating position. The brother in-law is taller and he couldn' sit in the front. I would take a look at the Hyundai Tucson, seems to be popular and more room up front.

I am over 6 foot and test drove the 17-1 model and seemed to have enough head room. Good warranty on it but again don't like the look of it but OH liked it. Seems to offer a lot for basic model with others you have to pay for ie Sat Nav, reverse camera etc. Its going to be a family car so safety important also

When i went to view it myself, i didn't like new shape but they had a couple of the older models left and i got a good deal in the end with a trade. What colour are you looking for? It might look better in black, gunmetal grey. If its for the family, great car. I've had no issues with mine.

Was looking at SUV's myself including the Kia Sportage, but the incident above put me off, maybe a bit unfair, but to see how easy it overturned

Think we can choose our colour as its new. Its the front I don't like and I have seen it compared to the smile of Wallace and Gromit. Inside seems ok and very high up and specs are good. Its going to be a family car so just the 2 of us and Junior so safety and reliability important. Also only comes with spare that is a fixer up 'er so rather a solid spare. I should be trying a Tuscon soon but they are nearly like for like. Also may try the Peugeot 3008 and working with salesman re a Seat Ateca re price and spec

Looks like a Porsche Macan to me.

It's the back end of the shortage I don't like. That rear light bar is too fussy.

I think they changed them for 171, the bar going across the back now chrome finish on top rather than just an extension of the red light cluster.

New GT Line is nicely finished and gets the more powerful 2.0 litre engine.

It's like they just wanted the back to look different to the Tucson without having to do too much work.

Funny I dont like the tiger nose grill and bug like lights on front. Looks best in black upfront as doesn't stand out as much. Have the older model as prefer its styling but new version a bit more solid. Some new ones have nice cream leather seats now too which makes it feel quite upmarket along with all the good specs.

Hoping for a facelift to make the front more like the optima or I might just go for the optima SW.

Out of all the dealers we have tried Kia giving the best trade in on our cars but I am still not pushed even with their great warranty and crash in link above made me think also

Keep the eye on the road and that won't happen :)

That incident just looks like pure bad luck with the angle which skimmed the car. Saw similar in front of myself a few years ago and an opel corsa - elderly lady, driving slowly and hit a kerb and car flipped on its side and slid about 30m. If you didn't see it you'd assume someone was driving at speed, but she was crawling.

It could just as easily have been a Tucson, Ateca, Duster, Tiguan etc.
If you want a car with a low centre of gravity, just rule out all crossovers.

I looked at all SUVs and I have gone for the Kia. Firstly best trade in & year warranty and I found all the extras that came with the platinum model made it wort while. The looks will grow on you I hope collecting next week.
