I'm in Manchester next week? Any pointers?! Is Canal Street still the place to go?

    Lol, thanks for the help!

Cononcidentally, I just binge-watched the whole of QAF yesterday, which I'd been meaning to watch for years but finally had the impetus to watch caus of my trip :D

I was there (Canal St) in the early 2000s and it really was like what you see in QAF back then. Such great fun! However, I went there again around 2012 and felt the whole area had become a hen party magnet where all the ladies go for a girls night out. The great music scene that used to be there changed to just playing camp classics to cater for the new type of target market. It just seemed very commercial, mainstream and...well....straight! Saying that, there were one or two good bars in the streets just behind the main strip. I'm not sure I'd go there again just for a weekend away.

Thanks for your comparison. Gosh, that's depressing! One of the consequences of mainstream acceptance, I guess - the homogenous community was a consequences of the prejudice. I'll report back on my experience. I'm not just going for the nightlife tho so I don't stand to be too disappointed!
