Staying in menlo in galway city for few day in two weeks
Any recommendations what to see and do in galway
Haven't been there before I'll have wife and two children aged 3 and 1 with me!!

Some great restaurants - Kai Cafe, O'Grady's on the Pier in Barna, Aniar (Michelin star) , Loam (Michelin star), Moran's on the Weir in Kilcolgan, Ard Bia at Nimmos (lovely atmosphere) at Spanish Arch, Oscars Seafood Bistro - many mentioned here: http://thisisgalway.ie/food-oscars/

Cool coffee shops/cafes - Coffeewerk Press on Quay Street, Tribeton (also lunch and dinner), Badger and Dojo. You can google most of those and find out menus etc.

You already have your hotel - but for others who don't, the G Hotel is a great hotel if looking for somewhere cool - a bit like an even more designer W Hotel - rooms designed by a famous milliner for Princess Diana. G Hotel is about 2 km or 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi to downtown (pubs).

Meyrick Hotel is a historic (railway) hotel on the main square (Eyre Square).

Some other hotels (closer to) downtown are: the Radisson Blu, the House Hotel. If you want to be right beside the pubs, this has just opened on Quay Street: http://www.theresidencehotel.ie/en/

Since you will have small children with you, could consider the Aquarium http://www.nationalaquarium.ie/

What is the best source of info for events in the County/City?

I find the Galway Advertiser or the events section of Facebook (searching for Galway) to be best

If you are coming around 30th June to 2nd July there is Seafest on at the docks- great family fun (see facebook for info). Also that weekend is a garden festival in claregalway (with shuttle buses from Eyre square) which is very popular too.
