I have a car which is insured with a full no claims bonus

Looking at getting a small van which would be used on the farm only such as a Berlingo.

Anyone know how much insurance would be, I will be the only one driving the van

350-500 euro depending on your age and NCB. If you can put another driver on it that has no accidents in last 5 years and is advanced in years I presume that you are over 30.

I tried to insure a 2nd van that I had no claims bonus for . Most places would not even quote me .

Fbd (1350) and chill (820) were the only 2 that would quote .

Even though I had the original van policy they were all asking was I a named driver on another policy . I think if I had of been it may help

In those situation try a broker like insure my van

You'll be starting a fresh policy I presume and the car won't carry over to the van or they may give you some allowance. You'll be lucky to get it for800

Looked into it last year as well, 800 would be a good quote.

checked my insurance. My policy says I am covered to drive another car (it can not be a commerical vehichle or it cant be in my name)

So my wife bought a second car in her name.

I rang the insurance company and they confirmed Im was covered to drive this car, even though there is no insurance policy on the car

Problem is my wife is going to tax the car and she needs to include the insurance details on it. Just wondering if this is mandatory when taxing a car

You can't tax any vehicle without insuring it first

Look up third party extension policy. If you've a skyline or an Impreza it's about the only way these lads get covered.

    Are you sure about that?

If you put in any old rubbish for the insurance policy number on motortax.ie i'm pretty sure you can tax a car even if its not insured.

Just change the insurance over for a week and tax it.

    Love to buy another Impreza

Dont bother. All those guys driving around their own imprezas under driving other cars extension are not insured at all, just giving insurance company money for nothing.

Get a copy of your policy document and read it.

you can and you can drive it but my point is that when a claim occurs, its quite likely that insurers will look at it in some depth.
I know of one lad who drove a skyline registered in his mates name. Broadcast that fact widely too.
Anyway, after having an accident and the insurer producing sufficient evidence that he was the main driver of the car, he got zero.

Ok. I'd only be buying a yoke for odd days out. Might stick in auld lads name so. E700 tax and e55 every 2nd year.

Would a wee van not make more sense. Then you can have it in your own name straight.

My brother went to insuremyvan.ie and they mirrored his no claims from his private policy straight off.
