New VW Polo GTI for 2018

As I said in another thread: I just dont like vw design. Its just way too bland looking for good few years now. This one is same, at least exterior.
One thing I will say though, that I am pretty sure now that Seat will do a cupra version of new ibiza as its same platform and in 3 years I might not even keep my cupra, but jump to new ibiza cupra.

I just love how we have an option of these hot superminis, which are so much fun to drive. And at actual affordable for mortals like me.

    Bumpety bump.

The new Polo GTI will be available to order from March according to the brochure. Still no sign of it on the configurator. I'm seriously tempted, anyone else looking at it? I love the look of it and from watching a few Youtube reviews it's getting great reviews. As usual from VW it's expensive though, with a few options ticked you're looking at ~€35k on the road. You'd get a year old Mk7 GTI for that. I think this is just that little bit different though.

Really need to test drive it first - no dealers have it in stock atm.

    Autogefuhl did a great review:

I'd go for a year old Golf GTI face lift instead. It would be better in every way imo and at a guess would hold it's value better.

I like the styling at the front but not mad on the rear. Interior is sweet.

It's also only 13cm shorter in length then the MK4 golf.

Its definitely a serious rival for the new Fiesta (which is hideous btw) and 5 doors with dsg definitely makes it more appealing then the ST imo but at a higher price obviously.

The polo is a real super mini. As big as a golf, looks great and packed with tech. It's a superb buy and I'd love one myself!

35k for a Polo seems nuts to me

I never understand these comments. It's not like it's the 1.0, 3 cylinder, Trendline you are getting for €35k.

Is it supposed to mean you wouldn't pay €35k for such a small car and you think you should be getting a bigger car for that money or what?

It's a Polo. Regardless of trim or whatever is under the bonnet - all I see is a Polo. And that's what most people will see. Maybe I'm misjudging the market but I'd expect the depreciation to be ridiculous in comparison to say something like a Golf GTI.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

    I'm sure it's a great drive though.

€35k? What does a Golf GTI start at these days, 38?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

    €39500 for a 3dr with no extras.

Price for the Polo is speculated with "a few options" for ~€35k.

I'd say a boggo one might be €29 ish ex delivery etc.

Polo GTI is 5 door and comes with the 6 speed DSG box. Starts at just over €32k base. With options incl metalic paint, 18" Brescias, the tech pack and a few others, ~€35k.

Similar 5dr DSG Golf GTI is €41k OTR. Add paint, wheels and the tech pack and its €43k. €8k difference, a nice chunk of change IMO.

I rang around a few dealers today but car isn't even in manufacturing yet. It'll be June/July before any arrive ashore :(

Ibiza FR at €23k with 1.5 TSI would be tops in price in the small category for me

To a lot of the car buying public only thing worth 35k is an audi a4 diesel or a pretend suv with no real extra space once one of the neighbours gets a new Hyundai Tucson which do look well as it goes half the street wants one
