Excellent. Hate having to get a taxi from the rank at Dublin airport!

You need to pre book my taxi to airport.
Then you get email with voucher code.
    Add to wallet.
Hail mytaxi on return to avail of discount.
    Only applicable on return leg.
    Use by July 31st.

Problem is that booking taxi's to the airport with Mytaxi can be a disaster. Had one no-show and went on to whinge about it on twitter and I'm clearly not the only one. Lots of people complaining about them.

whats the difference between prebook and just booking. is there a time between them. Like can i prebook at 9:15 for 9:30 or does it have to be longer?

Anyone ever use the promo code if the fare is under or exactly €20? A taxi from my house to the airport is only about €15-€17 so I can throw a tip on top to make it up to €20 exactly.

The no show going to the airport would majorly concern me. I like to be VERY early for flights, as I stress majorly over missing a plane!

Yep, I've used codes before where I was under the full value and gave the rest (10, 15, 20%) as a tip.

Just reading your post again: It doesn't matter if the fare is under €20 it will just use the full €20 promo code and you loose what you didn't spend on it

    oh you're one of them

my mate is like that and will go ahead of us separately in transport before us or if we are travelling together will rush ahead to the terminal while the rest of us saunter up the flight in plenty of time and end up in our designated seats just like him

The departures set down area in T1 / T2 - order it just after passport control and they should be there waiting.

I can see the airport cracking down on this, and the idea generally of people picking up at the departures area. Historically there was a garda checkpoint on the way into departures and they occassionally got shirty and wouldn't let you in if you were on your own in the car. In some UK airports it actually costs money to drop someone off, please God we wouldn't ever see that introduced here!

Michael O'Leary would be all over that one!

its been happening for years. Works well enough. People are cute enough not to hang around too long at T1 departures. Wait nearby, get the call, then go pick them up. No harm done ;)

Lads, pre-booking mytaxi question: JUst made a booking for Thursday morning at 5am to Airport. I guess no driver will be allocated until nearer the time? Have a confirmation message permanently on the homescreen. Is that all I should expect at this stage ?

Yes it's normal. Around 4:45 you should get a notification the driver is on his/her way.

Had no problem with a pre-booked taxi recently.

However, the return could be a little more problematic. I got a taxi from airport when the app was changing over, but the driver told me they're not supposed to take fares that way - passengers have to use the rank within the airport instead. You may have to walk out towards the road or you might get lucky too.

    🤪

Hugely frustrating that they can accept your pre booking only to cancel on you closer to the time.

Has happened to me twice now.

Hailo prebooking was always so reliable. Its a mystery how they've managed to mess up so many of Hailos features with the changeover.

Could they not have waited a few months longer and fully integrated Hailo's code properly?

No it works. Just done Part two this evening.
    Went up to Departures(after arriving)
Booked one and he was 1 min away, less than that tbh.

Turned out he was an Exec car as well and was a free upgrade.
    E class merc, very nice.

Hit the airport 2hrs ago. Still no code via email.

I think I will take up this offer. I'm looking to book an early morning taxi on a Saturday (5ish). Am I risking missing a flight with reports of cancelled bookings and no-shows?

If it does turn out to be a no-show, is it easy enough to pre-book another taxi on the morning? I'm sure there'll be plenty around after a Friday night in the city, but would they be willing to drive out to the airport?

No, you are still able to get a MyTaxi at Dublin airport, just previously they had an official collection point - the regular taxis probably complained to DAA.

Once you have a taxi on the way through the app, best to just ring them and see where they are / where to meet outside arrivals.

I hailed a taxi from the airport and the driver was parked in the short-term parking lot just across the street from Terminal 1 arrivals. I booked it as soon as I picked up my luggage from the carousel and he called me within 30 secs. He waited for me at the pedestrian crossing and helped me with luggage to his car which was parked near by. Very smooth and efficient considering there was a pretty long cue for regular taxis (in particular larger ones as I was traveling with kids/buggies/child seats).
Unfortunately the myTaxi app decided not to work with my Paypal account which I had previously registered and was working fine on the outbound trip. That meant I didnt get the €20 discount.... v frustrating. I still have the voucher in the app but i'm not going to be able to use it before the promo is over (end of July).
So make sure you pay with credit card or that your Paypal is working with the app before your return journey

I did the pre-book to airport, taxi turned up no problem and had plenty time at airport. Never got the code via email.

Sent them a query via their app and they sent me back an email 4 days later apologising, saying that they would credit me by the €20 for next trip.

It's just a pity that their response took so long as I had since returned from my trip, but at least they recognised the problem and have made an effort to make it right.

Is there a time limit on the return trip? Im heading out in August for 3 1/2 weeks but the website says the return trip should be approximately three weeks after the initial booking.

Same here, but got onto them day after I left. Received the Promo code in a few days and used it on the return leg without issue.

T&Cs state that your departure leg must be on or before 31/07 so looks like you're out of luck.

Yeah I didnt get the code automatically either, had to email them. Funny thing is that as soon as you email customer service you get an automatic reply saying "rest assured... we'll get back to you within 60-72 hours (!!!). they replied 4 days later as well.... talk about under-promise, under-deliver!

So is this offer finished now?

I hear mytaxi are unreliable anyway. Is this true.
I used hailo a lot and it was very useable and reliable.
Haven't used it since it became mytaxi because of the bad press and.waiting for good reports.
So is it safe to use mytaxi yet?

Used this after arriving on 1.30 am flight with family. Hailed taxi once I had luggage and he was in short term car park within a few minutes. I could see queue at the rank and was delighted to be on our way home so quickly. 20 euro voucher worked. Very happy with the deal on this occasion.

I had a nightmare with this last weekend. Where exactly are they supposed to pick you up? I went across to the carpark. Driver said he could see me, but couldn't find me!?! Couldn't understand what he was trying to say. Had to give up and get an ordinary taxi after ten minutes trying to explain that I was right outside arrivals.

mytaxi isn't awful, but isn't fair off it. It is a poor mans Hailo imho.
