Hope this is the right forum.

I have extra satellite cables running into my house that I don't need but I need to get a Saorview aerial installed. Can I use the same cables or does a Saorview aerial need a different type of cable?

Cheers. Do you know if I need different connections at the end to connect to the TV?

    Standard co-ax connector (belling-lee male) - http://www.freetv.ie/accessories/tv-connectors/coaxial-connectors/

The local supermarket or hardware store will have them.

You can also get satellite F-connector to coax (male or female) adapters which might be easier if you're not comfortable with fitting the coax connectors.

actually yea, thats probably the job if you already have a satellite connector on the end of the lead beside your tv

Thanks for all your help. Anyone know someone that can put in an aerial in D15?

I run both through the same cable and have a splitter on either end - they are available online for about a fiver. Use the second cable for a second LNB and tuner so you can watch one channel and record another on the sat box.

i did my own, just attached it to the satellite dish
was lucky enough though that i had a roof to sit on, wouldn't fancy having to do it while up a ladder

Unless the dish is pointing in the same direction to the transmitter and in a strong enough signal area I'd probably avoid.

It's possible with a conventional satellite dish install but won't work with the new SkyQ equipment, satellite signal overlaps with the terrestrial signal.

Mine is a normal Aeriel something like this

I was able to clamp it onto the bracket holding the sky dish.
It is pointed in the right direction for the signal and was picking chanels up ok but did sometimes have some interfereance
lately though I realised I mustn't have tightened it enough as it is now pointing at the ground.....guess what happened.....signal is better than ever LOL

I'd say you have other installation 'issues', besides the loose fastenings, probably the cable isn't connected right.

Yea quite possibly, the sky installer (baxtard) snipped the cable on me and I remember doing a quick job patching it up. Works anyway so it can stay the way it is now for a while at least
