And Virgin Media Ireland bosses then revealed the reason behind getting rid of ITV2.

They said: “With so much of the ITV2 content now available in glorious HD across the TV3 channels (TV3 HD, 3e HD and be3 HD) we’re freeing up space for even more HD content. We’ll be adding E4 HD, More 4HD, Film4 HD, Universal HD and SyFy HD soon.

While they are welcome additions to the line up, its disappointing to lose itv 2 .

Freeing up an SD channel for 5 HD channels is BS.

Looking forward to the new additions though

Great to see. But I hate the random numbers they allocate. Okay I get that some HD channels don't have Irish Ads so we both HD and SD. I'd love to just have one channel. Take Sky News on 202 and 232. Both have Irish Ads, yet we have it twice. Doesn't make sense.

The channels that have both HD and SD are channels where the HD and SD feeds are not the exact same programming, ie teh SD feed is not simply a downscaled version of the HD feed.
In the case of sky its a standard contractual issue with sky where they insist both are carried.
