Hi I'm travelling by Stena to Holyhead next week. The bus from Limerick takes me to Eden Quay, this is very close isn't it? Within walking distance hopefully? :)
    Thanks

Foot passengers travelling on the 08:20hrs, 15:10hrs and 20:40hrs sailings from Dublin can avail of a coach service which will bring you from Dublin City Centre to the Stena Line Terminal in Dublin. The coach departs from Westmoreland Street in Dublin City Centre at 07:15hrs for the 08:20hrs sailing, 14:00hrs for the 15:10 sailing and 19:00hrs for the 20:40hrs sailing.

Please note: There is no coach service for passengers arriving on the 20:30 from Holyhead or departing on the 02:15 from Dublin.

The fares for this coach service is as follows:

    Adult Single: €3.00

    Adult Return: €5.00

    Child Single: €1.50

    Child Return: €2.50

When you arrive in the Stena Line Terminal 2 building at Dublin off the 02:30hrs, 08:55hrs or the 13:50hrs departures from Holyhead, there is also a coach service which will transfer you to Dublin City Centre, stopping at Connolly DART Rail Station and Westmoreland Street. There is also a drop off point at Heuston Rail Station and the fare for this is €4.00 Adult Single and €2.00 for a Child Single.

Ah no, according to Google maps, Eden Quay to the Stena Dublin Port Terminal is a one hour walk! I would have thought it was less than that but they are certainly not right beside each other. A 15 minute drive, you might be better off getting a taxi.

Is the 53 bus any use to you? Talbot Street is about 10 minutes walk from Eden Quay.

The JJ kavanagh 3 arena stop would be nearly half the distance closer than eden quay. It would take 20 something minutes off the walk.
But the walk is not pleasant... lorries tear around there at motorway speeds and some crossings have no lights. I would take 53 if the timetable suits or a taxi if short on time.

+1. Dublin port is really not set up for pedestrians. It's a deceptively long slog through a grim place. Go to the city centre and get a taxi or one of the bus options. The dedicated Stena coach is best, though it used to be free.

OP it is very simple - get off your bus at Eden Quay and walk 5 minutes to Westmoreland Street (the bus stop is outside O'Brien's Sandwich bar) - that's where the Morton's bus that connects with the ferries operates from.

The times are posted in the post above.

Do not even countenance walking to the ferry port - it's not safe or pleasant.

For those suggesting the 53, note that the 53 bus does not serve the Stena Terminal at all but only the Irish Ferries terminal - there is a bit of a walk between the two.

Cheers... any idea if the 53 is useful if visiting a friend on one of the cruise liners docked at Dublin port?

Not really - most if not all of the cruises have buses laid on to take the passengers to the city centre - probably best to meet them in town?

Dublin Port is not a pedestrian friendly place unless you know your way around from working there.

Dublin Port is not a pedestrian friendly place unless you know your way around from working there.

Added to that, most of the cruise liners dock in the Alexandra Basin cargo berths well inside the working port area which is not at all suitable for unwary pedestrians to be walking around.

It's not a place to be wandering around. I drove to pick up my aunt for the day and it would've been a lot easier to pick her up off the bus that dropped all in town

Eden quay and Westmoreland street are the length of O'Connell bridge apart. If not getting a taxi just get that afore mentioned bus.

Also as mentioned, its a hell of an unattractive walk from even the point depot, let alone Eden quay, I would not recommend

Oh and talbot street is not a ten minute walk from eden quay. Five if that. Honestly just get a taxi.

All the information that you need about the connecting buses (in both directions) is in post #2 above.

€11.60 to €21.40 (in heavy traffic) if traveling between 8am and 8pm. Second and additional passengers €1 each. The rank is on St. John's Road West, near the ticket office.

Luas to the Point and then a taxi on is another option for you OP. There's always loads of cabs parked up at the hotel in front of the stp.
