Taxing question

    Hi folks,
    If I have a new Dublin reg car and want to tax it over the counter. Can I take it to say the tax office in drogheda to tax and get the disc there? Would be handier to get to for me with traffic and parking etc as live in North Dublin.

    If going abroad, just take the old disc off the windshield.

    Foreign police won't know what to look for.

    Do it online tonight and you will probably have the disc thursday or friday. Has come in 2 days for me last few times.

    Call customer services in MTO first to check the car is on the system. You can't tax it unless it is.

    It normally takes 24 hours to be updated.
    If you are thinking of going into Queen St those first few days....forget it....or get there for 830 to get in the que and take a ticket
    On January 4th (first day back) we had 1000 people and a 2 hour wait.

    Tax online, print the payment confirmation and have it with you in the car. I cannot imagine a situation you will be fined when stopped by Gardi for doing something like that.

    And don't park in the street.
