Yield signs and wing mirrors

Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move.

Just had an incident the other day where I was driving on a narrow ish road and there's a pinch point where it gets very narrow with not enough room for two cars to pass. Anyway there's a yield sign for drivers coming towards me and I think there's also a line they should stop at.

So I'm driving towards this narrow point and I can see there's a car coming towards me, I continued as I knew he had to stop and yield at that point. However he didn't stop and as he went past me our wing mirrors clipped each other. I should note that neither of us were going particularly quickly (its not that type of road), I had almost (but not quite) come to a stop to let him by whereas he had clearly made up his mind he was getting through that gap and was going a bit quicker. Anyway I slowed down after and could see my mirror had simply been turned in and as I looked in my main rear view mirror he didn't appear to be stopping. A few meters later there's a slight bend in the road were I lost sight of him. Anyway I was able to lower my window and easily just push my mirror back into place and go on my way, no damage whatsoever.

Obviously there's nothing I can do, nor do I want to do anything, I've no idea of the reg of the car or anything like that. I'm assuming the gardai wouldn't have any interest in it and its just one of those things where you shrug your shoulders and forget about it ?

Not much you are going to be able to follow up on if there's no details to give Gardaí.

Wouldn't be assuming someone will yield for you in future though.

Next time it might be a bit more than pushing the wing mirror back. Then the OP will be glad he had a dashcam.
