Medical Card reviews - Average wait time?

    Hey guys and gals

My medical card ran out two weeks ago.

I did apply for the review months ago, filled out the forms, etc. They came back and requested more documents, since I'm self-employed (barely). I gave them the relevant stuff, and am still waiting for them to make a decision, two months latter.

I've been in contact with them a few times and keep being told "Don't worry, we're working on it." They've said the card will stay active until the review is complete (I haven't tested that yet, but will be next week as I'm on a daily tablet which I only have a week of left...), but is it normal to take this long to get a decision back? I submitted the requested documents on April 14th, so it's nearly two months to the date now :/

Or am I being naive to think these sorts of things go quickly. A very quick glance would show I should be eligible (especially as I was just means tested by the social welfare crowd as well and shown to be well below the thresholds). Frustrated by how long its taking.

I was waiting over two months this time, no information, nothing requested, absolutely no communication whatsoever. In fairness I didn't chase them, might be no harm to put in a call ... I had been told there were delays at the moment, but not that long.

I phoned today as when I check the status online it asked me to contact them if I had not heard by 9/6 today they told me they are reviewing applications received week of 28/4
I sent mine in beginning of march but they claim they did not receive the 1st application so it was end of April when they got the 2nd lot.

You can check there to see if the card is still valid
