Mine was Lord Gyllene who won the Aintree Grand National in 1997.

It was the first time I ever placed a bet. I was 8 and my Dad put a pound down on him for me. I remember it was such a thrill, I loved it.

I've always remembered LG since, he died in December of last year.

One day, Oisín and Fianna saw a beautiful white horse in distance, and on its back was most beautiful young woman they had ever seen.

    She's pretty cute actually.

I'm not entirely familiar with the My Little Pony stuff as I'm not gay but to each as their own as they say.

Oh bugger off with your DUP. The only parties I respect up there are PUP, UUP and SDLP.

I'm a southern Roman Catholic Fine Gael man.

I don't do extremes, Hard Left and Hard Right are equally retarded imo.

M grandfather had a great friendship with a workhorse on his farm called Dobben.

Dobben collasped one day in the yard, buckled into a heap.

Himself and his father knelt down over him and comforted him in his final moments. There was nothing that could be done for him. Heart attack.

That horse was more than a piece of farm equipment to them, they loved him. To the extent that his name is still spoken about in the current generation of the family.

Awh. I am not from farming folk. But I love old family stories passed on :)

You can learn a lot about people from their stories. :)

I believe ancestral memory. And the lessons therein ....if something or a memory is in your blood it's there. :)
Farming and horses in particular :)

They're elegant noble creatures who have served mankind for centuries.

I hate to see them abused. Highly intelligent also.

Indeed the riding school i went to in carrick mines lent some horses for it. One of them was called Spike. He was one of the piebalds. I sued to ride him. He became like a superstar!

    This is so cute!

The animated version of Animal Farm seemed to be on telly a lot when I was small. The allegory went completely over my head, but I was always distraught when this happened:

So I'll say Boxer. Although I was slightly obsessed with Desert Orchid for a few years too.

I love the ones that shed the jockey early-on then go on to win the race.

Also the phrase "get it down you horsebox"

I'm hungover so that gave me a boo-hoo. Have to go and build something now to restore my manliness.

Brought for $9500 and won over $2.2 million. It's a great film. Especially Calvin Borell's scenes.

Following him since his opening race and have made a nice few quid as a result. Great winner of the Irish Grand National this year. Class act.

I picked a straight forecast on the national about 10 years ago,the bet was a free in a newspaper I found a on a table in a pub. Numbersixvalverde and hedgehunter 1st and 2nd.
Istabraq was a classy horse too,but too difficult to back for the average joe
