    Hi,
Just a couple of questions, is there a route map and is an old bike a prerequisite?
    Thanks,

    Hi Lethal,

A map will be available on the morning (I'm having difficulty posting it here!) and old bike not a pre-requisite - just make sufficient 'ooh' and 'aah' sounds to anyone on one and you'll definitely get away with it!!

Sorry about the delay, was trying to get the map up for you.

    Enjoy the cycle,

    Brendan

Good luck everyone tomorrow, all in a good cause. You will meet the OldVelos lads at the start in Castletown House - unfortunately I've another cycle on.

The expo will start at 10 and includes vintage racing bikes from 70's and 80's. This is a mini event compared to the OldVelos Vintage Classic, but a great chance to enjoy vintage bikes in the sunshine.

Here's some shots from our last expo in Killarney - make sure you scroll through pics at the end!

There's a bike hire shop in Castletown? Where is it? I'll definitely be down to check out the bikes and donate a few bob.

Great spin today, some lovely bikes on display too. Thank you to the marshalls and volunteers who did a fantastic job, and it was nice to get my Raleigh Record sprint out for a spin.

    Ah that was yourself!
Lovely bike we were admiring it before the start.
Ditto to the Volunteers and Marshalls and a good social spin.

Ah that's great, glad you enjoyed the day. Sorry I couldn't be there, I was riding a single speed around west cork in training for the Ring of Kerry on a Hi-Nelly.

If you have any pics perhaos you could share them on the OldVelos Cyclists Page on Facebook, or of course on boards too!

    Cheers,

    Brendan

    Hi Brendan,
A couple of us were on this last year and frequently talk about how enjoyable it was.
Are there any plans for it this year?

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
    Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm - or a steel bicycle

The OldVelos Vintage Classic 2018 is slated for the weekend of August 25/26 on and off the Waterford Greenway. If there's anything in the meantime I'll sure let you know. With all that snow, bad weather and illness I think everyone's months behind!

In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation and she gave me a lethal dose
I offered up my innocence I got repaid with scorn
    Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm - OR A STEEL BICYCLE

the only other line i can think of from that album, which could be shoehorned into being about cycling is about 'blood on your saddle', so best not go there...
