Hive - wiring

I am looking into purchasing a Hive plus the additional zone from amazon, My current setup is oil fed boiler with a wired stat upstairs and also a wired stat downstairs - there is also a switch for hot water heating only. (zones are split with motorized valves).

Ive attached pic's of my current timer and its wiring, since my hot water only is not switch by the existing timer am I as well off leaving that alone on its switch and just use the HIVE for the heating in the 2 zones ?

From looking at my current timer's wiring does it make sense - there is wires going into the Neutral and 1 wire going to Live and then the other wires go into no's 3 and 4.

Is it Nest or Hive your getting? (as you mentioned both)

    Q. Do all the 3 zones operate via stats and motorised valves at the moment and are they correctly interlocked (using the microswitches)

Sorry Hive only, just 2 motorised valves in total - 1 for downstairs and 1 for upstairs, when I press on the hot water switch it brings on the boiler until turned off.

How do I check if interlocked correctly ?

Your system is not interlocked (if it was any of the switches would independently bring on the boiler, not just the HW switch)

To use Hive correctly, you would need 3 motorised valves, all would have to be wired with interlock (using the grey/orange wires to microswitch to bring on the boiler for each zone individually)

If I wanted to use it just for heating upstairs and downstairs will it work and leave the water on the switch ?

It would, but would end up with the boiler continuously short cycling on the hot water circuit, wasting fuel.

You'd need to use 2xsingle channel Hive receivers and 2xhive stats to do it

So 2 standalone complete setups for each zone ?

If I went for 1 hive self install kit for heating only and 1 extra stat - this wouldn't work ?

not complete, 2 single channel receivers (one to switch each zone) it would be one system linked together.
Each stat needs a receiver to switch.....

    Thanks again for your reply.

I think I'm looking at 2 of these then:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011B3J6KY?ref_=ams_ad_dp_asin_3 and select the heating only option.
I will be left with a spare Hive Hub so can keep it as a spare or sell it online.

1 receiver for upstairs and 1 for downstairs, going from my existing wiring I need to bring N and L to both of the new receivers and then what is needed to be connected to the new receivers for the Heating On / Heating Off ? (I assume wire 3 and wire 4 from my existing controller is a wire to each of the zones motorized valves)

Im back again DGOBS - having a read again of this thread, Would I be right in saying my system is partially interlocked ?
    As I have :
timer - UpStairs room stat - motorised valve
    and
timer - DownStairs room stat - motorised valve

I can turn on the downstairs or upstairs heating only and if the stat says the room needs heat (set on stat) then it turns on the boiler for only that zone.

My issue is that the HW is not using a motorized value and just has the manual push switch for on/off.

Only mentioning this after reading your other HIVE thread and I think I am getting a better understanding of how things work.
    "
So when you call for heat in any zone via the timer, it signals the room stat to see if the area actually requires heat, if so opens the valve to that circuit, that when it opens it calls the boiler to send heat. (this is known as interlock)
When either the timer or the room stat is satisfied, the valve shuts and turns off the boiler."

No I would doubt you have interlock (as every zone would be able to call on the boiler)

If the hot water fires the boiler, then you just turn on/off the other zones via the tier-stat-motorvalve, I suspect both the orange and grey wires of the motor valve are not being used (these provide the interlock)
