    Hey,

I have an order of gym equipment coming from the states and its a first time ordering something like this from the states to Dublin. Its not huge but not small worth a good few thousand.

Does anyone know a custom officer or official office to contact to get a professional to ensure I am not burdened with massive taxes, customs fees etc... that could arise out of being unprepared.

I want to do this properly so any advice or tips much appreciated.

    Thanks

    This might help. http://www.revenue.ie/en/importing-vehicles-duty-free-allowances/buying-of-goods-online-for-personal-use/index.aspx

Basically what happens is, the Irish value of the product is estimated, customs duty is applied, and then VAT calculated on the overall price (after customs duty). In some cases, the delivering courier company pays this on your behalf, and you settle up with them then upon delivery.

    The customs helpline is 1890 626 364, available 9 - 5 Monday to Friday
