To all Im renovating my 3 bed semi d. I have gutted the house and remove all the old plumbing etc .
I'm planing on fitting the new gas boiler in a shed 12 metres from the house.
I have size the rads for the rooms whit a few different BTU calculator

I have fitted a cs60 cold water tank in the attic for toilet up stairs and the under stairs toilet and sink . The upstairs sink cold is mains fed .

I need some help on a few issues. i have run very low on cash and haven't got the funds to pay a plumber to do the full job.

    Question 1
I'm planing out the shower at the
Moment it will be a pumped shower.
The hot will be pumped from the shed into the house the problem is were do I get the cold from??

    Question 2
I'm not sure what road to go on the boiler
I have two options a combi or a sealed system boiler whit a hot water tank in the shed maybe a solar cylinder for a solar setup later down the road. Then the hot pumped in

    Question 3
I'm going to use 1/2 inch pex pipe for most of the house Heating and water etc. is 1/2inch pipe ok for all the heating pipe for the rads

I have lots more questions but for now any tips or help will be greatly appreciated thanks for looking

    First question
Are you planning on fitting the gas boiler yourself?

    Absolutely Not.
This is a recipe for disaster and to try to explain all the reasons for pipe sizing, circulation, circuit layout etc etc would take pages.

No the the boiler would need to be fitted by a rgi gas fitter

    Absolutely Not.

To start off, if you were putting the cylinder and boiler in the shed, I would put the water storage tank there as well and pump everything back to the house.
If using a combi located in the shed, then I would still put the water storage tank out there as well.
Locating the cylinder or combi in the shed means you have to run a lot of water waiting for hot to reach the taps / shower unless you put a circulation two pipe system on the hot supply, but that can have thermal loss problems and extra running costs.
Why not have everything in the house?

Hi I was thinking I would need a tank in the shed. The house is small and the only real place to put the boiler would be the kitchen but it would take up one of the 3 free units in the kitchen this is the easyer option.

was looking at ground pipe calpex I would need to do two runs of pipe. it's pricey but good heat less spec.

This shed is going to be for the
Washing machine etc as the kitchen just does not have the room for it.

I have no idea what size pipe is appropriate but I'd try to minimise the distance water has to travel to the tap. As an example with 1/2" pipe over a 12 metre run you will be leaving 1.5 litres of hot water in the pipes every time you run the hot tap. The cost of heating that wasted water is going to add up over time, added to the inconvenience of having to run 1.5 litres of water through the tap before the hot starts coming through. I live in a tiny old cottage with a kitchen barely 6'x 6' but that's perfectly adequate for two people, there is always space for a water tank - loft, ceiling space that could be boxed in?

I have never seen one, but heard that there are outdoor enclosures for gas boilers...there are probably also wall hung ones for outside. Some of the gas lads here might comment.

There you go. That's the sort of space saver I was mentioning.
