Just looking for thoughts on this, back wiper on the car looks like the motor has gone kaput, I am thinking this is an NCT failure.

Test is tomorrow so won't be able to get my hands on a motor for it, am I right in saying is I took the wiper arm off and just left a nut there, that they can't fail it cause they can't fail something they can't test and it's not an essential part?

Correct, save yourself the hassle of removing it as its not tested.

Last 2 cars I had, neither of the back wipers worked on them! Passed every time!

If we open our NCT tester's manual we find under section 9:
This test only applies to front windscreens.

While I agree and thought it was the case, I have had cars fail on the back wiper as the condition of the wiper wasn't in good condition.

Either way I will leave it on and see what happens.
