NCT and TPMS Light on

Following a corroded sensor valve replacement with a standard valve last year the TPMS light is constantly on in my car.
I'm having trouble justifying the £100+ cost to replace said sensor for the NCT. I know the TPMS light on now is a fail for the test.
Question is how diligent are NCT checks on these lights? If I ask my mechanic to black it off then it won't show (coming on at the start with key in the ignition and staying on as is now the case). It might be I have to go down this route as only part available locally is from main dealer with the extortionate price.

I'm gritting teeth at the thought of paying for this when on the family car I don't have sensors so not an issue. I check tyre pressure once a month as a matter of course.

The nct manual states in section 60
Ensure the malfunction indicators for Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), Airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-Lock
Braking System (ABS), Electronic Braking System (EBS), Parking Brake, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Power
Steering (EPS) or brake fluid warning light are in working order.

    FAIL
1 Not working or indicates a defect in the relevant system.
2 Obvious Modification affecting correct operation

I believe if they don't see it light up when they turn the key they can fail it too OP so blanking may not work.

Would it not cost roughly the same to pay someone to do a dodgy wiring job to make the light come on and off with the ignition as it would to just buy a sensor?

Even if the sensor is marginally more it'd still be worth it IMO, because then you have a functioning puncture detection system again.

If one has failed due to corrosion the rest will go too. Happened on our i30.

What era of i30 is that?

First gen with sensors on the valves.
Think later ones go off the wheel speed sensors

    2009 i30.
Had it replaced - ?120 from Hyundai trade price.
Got it Euro car parts - genuine kia/Hyundai for ?80.
    Cheer for replies.

    Just fix it.

They are under a lot of scrutiny and do everything by the book.

The valve-sensors are far more superior in resolution and reaction time departments. But are simply ridiculously expensive.

The design on them is flawed. I would recommend the OP puts plastic valve caps on as the steel ones react to the aluminium and create a weak point where the two meet

I swapped the rest out for regular valves and blanked out the TPMS light. There is a self check on the trip computer but it doesn't actually flag a fault on the screen. Got through the NCT no problem.

Got 2 done on warranty but they wouldn't cover the other 2 as they hadn't failed yet. Only a matter of time though. Originals lasted 4-5 years.

If you have the old valves you could get these.
