Free overnight parking near Camden Street, Dublin 2

Hi all, I am currently studying and working in Dublin and live on Lower Camden Street for the past few months and have been left very frustrated without a parking spot for getting up and down to Dublin. I've been leaving my car north side on occasion but don't feel comfortable leaving it so far away. I'm not entitled to a parking spot as I am on Camden Street but would anyone know of locations not too far away that I could park the car free of charge such as a small side street without pay and display? Any suggests will do as I know the possibility of one is very limited, cheers.

Do you really need the car in Dublin if you're just using it for getting to and from Cavan? Seems a waste.

OP, are you looking for free overnight (as in the thread title) or free all day?

There's plenty of free overnight parking in Dublin 4, look around Burlington Road and Wellington Road and you should find streets and lanes that are free outside business hours. Anywhere that's busy during the day with office workers but which has few residential units requiring street parking will often be free in the evening. A lot of the houses on Wellington Road have offstreet parking so it's free after about 6:30 or 7 p.m. Mon-Fri and free all day Saturday.

i was wondering this too; is the car unused for the duration of the stay in dublin?

Most of the area around Camden St is Yellow zone, and seems to be 7am-midnight. So it kind of depends on your definition of "overnight".

Basically I need the car for the week in Dublin. So I'd need parking from Sunday evening till Thursday evening. I know it seems pointless having the car in Dublin but it is my only way of getting home. I use it during the evenings to get around but do use the bus most of the time.

I think the thread title is misleading. If you're not using the car during the day then what you're looking for is free all day parking because anywhere that's free during business hours is always going to be free in the evening.

There are plenty of quiet streets in the suburbs (e.g. Blackrock) that are free in the daytime (no white boxes or yellow lines) because they're a long way from Dart stations and bus stops but I'm fairly sure that Dublin city is all pay and display in the daytime, it's only free if you have a resident permit.

    That's the Cavan Man mentality!

The closest area with free parking to the Camden Street area is around St. Teresa's Gardens/Donore Avenue/Tenters area. As the area there is due for rebuilding in the near future, even this may go to the wall.

I was going to suggest park it in cavan, but there's very likely a chance that you might have to pay there on those cavan streets

Whilst I like your endeavour to find free parking CavanShmoker22, you will struggle to find it regular enough that you can rely on it for your Sun-Thur. Dublin as you know is rammed and any spots free will be snapped up fairly lively. It is a topic often asked on here and while people will offer info it doesnt be long staying free or secret enough that you can hope it be there again for you next week.
As Losty said, the Dublin 8 areas might be your best bet.

Some mighty streets in Cavan! One road in and another one out!
Compact though all the same and some fine people, seriously!
