Hi all. I have a deep black pearlescent finish on my car and I wanted your opinions on blacklight. Is it as good as CG claim it is? Or is it a load of hype? Just looking for something to add that extra bling to the finish. It will be topped with a Black magic detail wax (probably Morpheus).

I used it when it came on the maket first along with CG V7.

    I gave them away.

That doesn't sound great! A lot of lads on detailing world swear by prima amigo and Poorboy's black hole. Any experience of these products? Black hole seems to be the king of filling, whereas amigo gets the nod for extra shine......

    They were "OK"
I wouldn't say they were pure rubbish,
I feel money could be better used on other products.
I tin of Fusso would beatt hem hands down.

    I have used Prima Amigo,
It is a very good product at what it does.
I still have half bottle here that will probably never again be used. But always handy in case.

I have no experience of PB Black hole. Though people do rave about it.

I just have this thing about "Quick fix" products.
They are perfect for the person that would cleanse and Glaze & wax their cars often.
I am gone the lazy route and now use ceramics.

Fair enough. I'm one of those lads that likes tinkering with my cars appearance at least once every month. Love experimenting with different products. Just looking to try something new as a shiny base for my waxes

    What color is your car?

    Have you prepped it properly?
Do you own a DA polisher?
    If not.
    Have you decon
    detar
    Clay
    Prior to waxing?

Oh yes. I'm not a novice as such. Paint was corrected last month with menzerna compounds. Full decon carried out. It's deep black pearlescent so tends to show everything up in strong sunlight. But it's in good order at the moment. Have a few days off work coming up and wanted to maybe try something that would make the metallic flecks explode with shine...

I did a correction a couple of years ago ( The last one I did actually )
On my sons old E60 BMW
I used a ceramic coat on it and I was amazed at the clarity and sparkle that was on it.
I will try find some pics for you.
It may be an option for you?

As Vectra said; Blacklight decent products...but probably not what you are after. Getting the paintwork to a better condition negates the need for a glaze. It does combo nicely with CGs Pete's53 on dark colours, but correction of the paintwork will always give the best results.

If your paintwork still has some minor defects after correction; the deeper marks that you didnt chase after because the car is a daily driver, than KKD ReGloss or Bilt Hamber Cleanser Polish would be a good option; topped up with a nice soft paste wax, to achieve the deep wet look...but you'll be sacrificing durability in favour of the all out glossy wet look.

Thanks for that Curran. Durability isn't a huge factor in my decision because, as I said, I love trying out different products. Really, it's only as we approach winter that I apply something more durable such as fusso or DJ supernatural hybrid. I already have cleanser polish in my arsenal so maybe the regloss might be the way to go.
