New Red Deal flooring, how ensure it does not yellow?

    Hello,

So would like the new floorboards in the house build not to go yellow or orange. I like how they look now freshly installed.

I'd like to sand it and put a clear coat on it. I don't particularly want to stain it as it's far too soft to stain, but a slightly darker colour naturally or without a stain I'd be happy with also.

To prevent yellowing you will need to white oil them, this blog has some good pointers.

Coat them with water based polyurethane floor varnish, oil based varnish will darken the wood

I've red deal wide planks and stained them no problem. Then a water based coating I can't recall (the floor sander used it) - it doesn't add a layer onto the wood like varnish does so you feel like it's wood you're touching.

Bar for dents from the young fella lashing his dinky cars down on it, it's held up fine 4 years.
