I picked up a 1.6L Golf allstar 2 months ago for 28k, didnt wait to get the v7.5 as it didnt have as much kit but the car has been a disaster since purchase.

Its got 2k on it, all I do is drive to work and around town but already, the indicator sticks, the electric mirrors have a mind of their own (when I try to move the left one, the right mirror moves too), a huge chunk of plastic has broke loose on the front left wheel arch and it just drinks diesel.

Bought it on hp, would I be better to cut my losses and sell it already?

The mirrors are done on purpose like that. Dealer should be able to switch it off.

None of that sounds like a disaster.

If it was new from dealer bring it back and get them to look at the plastic trim unde the wheel arch and to set thee mirrors properly as above.

What do you mean by drinks diesel? What kind of driving are you doing? Is it all short trips?

What are you comparing it to? What did you have before?

It's a new engine so won't be up to full efficiency for a few thousand kms, but if you're only doing 1,000km a month around town in a diesel then you should be expecting crap efficiency anyway.

The right and left mirror moving together is a setting that can be changed. Read the manual.

The plastic falling off and the indicator sticking aren't ideal but should be easily fixable and are what your warranty are for. Selling it already for such minor issues seems incredibly dramatic.
If you are only doing 1k around town, WTF are you doing driving a diesel anyway??

So my previous car was a 1.4 golf Mk6. I got a diesel because I have long commutes in the summer and uptowards xmas each year but I suppose you're right about it taking a few thousand miles to hit its stride.
Didn't know about the mirrors but will take it back to the dealer about the other issues.
I probably am junping the gun, its just the last golf I had never had a single issue apart from a bulb blowing once in the 5 years I had it and was afraid this might turn into a moneypit.

Warranty. Dealers like warranty jobs. They get paid well for them.
They'll like you less after the warranty period is over.

The mirrors aren't a new thing my mkv they move together it's done on purpose as it makes it easier switching between two drivers. My girlfriend is shorter and therefore when she drives moves the mirrors down I then move them back, only takes on move instead of two.

The efficiency is going to improve more so with longer drives. Diesels need to be driven.
