I suspect a lot are watching this right now.
A good line up. Robbie Williams is emotional singing Angels.

Not a fan of pop but Black Eyed Peas are nailing it here

They could have done with Ariana last night in Cardiff.

Lots of complaints about the Black Eyed Peas and their performance last night at the Champions League prematch concert, no Fergie and they need a female voice, and they had none, Ariana rescued them tonight.

The thing just feels all wrong. Pharrell singing "Happy", when all those kids are only a week dead, and loads more killed last night.

    Who was that. Horrendous vocals.

Has Fergie left Black Eyed Peas? Ariana Grande to replace singer for Manchester One Love concert
A spokesman for Duhamel has since told Billboard magazine that she remains a member of the group, but is currently taking a break to focus on her solo career. "Fergie is still in the Black Eyed Peas and has an enormous amount of love for her brothers," they said. "However, she’s currently focusing on her solo record in partnership with BMG and she's incredibly excited for her fans to hear her new music."

Looking at the crowd there, it seems to be not as packed as expected. Think that's due to touts buying and not being able to sell. I just hope those touts are now out a lot of money.

Just tuning in every now and again and Ariana seems to be doing a good job as MC and performer for something that was organised so quickly and she's clearly emotional about.

The intentions are good of course, but does anybody else feel this concert is a bit too soon after the tragedy?

Especially when some of the people who were at the Manchester Arena are still in hospital.

Crowd is limited to 60k which according to the BBC is what is in there

Who is this now, with the blue hair if you dont mind.

Oh god, we have the new I am Charlie..... I stand with Manchester.

Oh now this is good. Really suits Christ Martin's voice.

Could they not just play a few more Oasis songs instead of their own sh1te?

I know this concert is being done with the very best intentions and full credit to everyone involved but I can't help but think it's cold comfort to the parents of those killed in the Manchester attack.

It would make my night if we could have Liam & Noel Gallagher together.

Ok, I did not expect Liam, especially with Chris singing Don't Look Back in Anger. After all don't Noel and Liam dislike him?
And if Take That and Robbie didn;t perform together, I don't see a Liam/Noel reunion happening

Ah look the people need a boost. Music can deliver that.

Liam's choice of dress is very off putting , Am I the only one thinking Guantanamo Bay suit

And now Chris playing with Liam. Time to start selling coats in hell

I wish Noel was on stage.....

I know this is no comfort to people grieving. But it's a good way to show that a terrorist can't have any effect on the people. You get up and carry on, be better, be stronger

Quite sad that Noel and Liam couldn't get together and sing Don't Look Back in Anger together on stage. It would have been an epic moment if one or both had been able to leave their bullsh*t at the door. Shame.

Wouldn't be a fan of Ariana Grandes but it's hard not to feel for her up there. She was a target aswell, and for her and her team to put this together is fairly class

I'd never even heard of her before this. Seems a classy young lady.

I never heard of her before the bombing but my 11 year old daughter is a fan. We watched the show together this evening.... I hope the families of the injured and bereaved get comfort and practical assistance in the difficult months and years ahead.

The artists who performed were all teeny-bopper types and most of the audience seemed to be made up of that too so it wasn't really my kind of music. But it made a nice bit of money for the survivors and I'm sure its badly needed as some of them will need life-long care and attention.

If you get a chance look her up on Youtube mimicking other singers she is quite a singer and a very funny young lady.

My OH is pointing out an irony I missed her name is Grande , and she is quite tiny. even in the heels Miley Cyrus dwarfed her :D

I don't think anyone involved with organising it would argue that it's only cold comfort but it will cover the cost of the funerals which is some comfort.

Miley is very masculine though, from all the lassooing of horses with her father.

    Ariana Grande <--- IMDb link.

Kids would know of her from "Victorious" and "Sam & Cat" TV shows. From them shows she use to speak in a quirky/squeaky voice, which she has grown out off.

She also performs the Soundtrack along with John Legend to recent "Beauty and the Beast" film.

Thought Bieber was the best of a very good bunch. They walked the self-promotion/greater good tight-rope very well and it was really enjoyable. Hope they raise a lot of money. Don't see any fault with how soon it was personally, it's a show of defiance even if Ariana looked understandably emotional various times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,550 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I know her from the first season of Scream Queens.

She seems a lot more level headed than Miley and Bieber.

I think that would've made the show all about them though. I did think it would be fitting myself, put everything aside, one love and all that. And I initially hoped Robbie would preform with take that. But I actually thought afterwards they were right not to, it would've been the wrong time.

I figured the reason Robbie didn't perform with Take That was because the big reunion moment was going to be Liam and Noel getting together and they didn't want to take away from it.

I don't think it would have made the show about them tbh. The reason why it would have been so special is because Don't Look Back in Anger was sung at one of the vigils in a spontaneous moment that caught people's imagination and gave the city a lift. For the two brothers, who are icons of Manchester, and who are known to have a fraught relationship, to put their differences aside for one night, shake hands, and sing THAT song, their song, in front of their own people, would have been imo one of the greatest moments of their lives.

I think it was such a wasted opportunity and if they think about it in years to come I think they will feel the same way. I assume Oasis will get together again one day, and it will be a big deal I'm sure, but it will never pack the kind of emotional significance that it would have tonight.

I completely understand why it would have been meaningful but I still think it would have made the night about them. Even by saying about take that not wanting to take away from them, illustrates that it would have been their big moment, when it was a concert about everybody coming together for one cause, not just one act. I get that the sentiment would have been nice but I do think it would have made the whole thing about them. Each to their own.

TBF Take That and Robbie have already united but at least they even embraced and acknowledged each other on stage tonight

Liam and Noel putting their issues aside for their city just even for one song would have been awesome and made the concert #onelovemanchester even more epic

They're 100% petty enough for both to have been approached and for one or both of them to refuse to perform together.

Liam is eager for the Oasis reunion. It's obvious he's just messing around with Beady Eye and the solo career to keep some money coming in and to keep himself busy but his only real passion is to be fronting Oasis again. He would have went on stage with Noel no problem I'd imagine.

Noel on the other hand.......Well I honestly think he has every intention of a reunion at some stage in the future because the pay day will be enormous. But he's not going to entertain the notion of diluting the excitement and anticipation before that payday by appearing for free at a charity gig. He's always been Mr. Business.
