Waiting time for Invalidity Review

Wondering if anyone has any insight into the current waiting times for a review of Invalidity Pension refusal please?

My illness benefit ended in January after the 2 years were up and my application for invalidity pension was refused in Feb (applied in early Nov). I sent a request for a review back to Longford with further updates medical evidence and letters of support from Dr and local TD. They received this on 2nd March.

I have been phoning Longford for updates and asking if they can at least tell me what date files they are working on now so at least I have an idea of when to expect to hear the outcome. Their response is that my file is in a queue waiting to be looked at by the medical assessor, that there are loads ahead of me so there will be quite a wait, but yet they say they can't tell me what date files are being looked at now or even a rough timeframe! I find it so frustrating. One person said she could make up an answer.

They always tell me (quite flippantly) to just go and get the supplementary welfare allowance while I'm waiting - I applied but was refused based on my husbands earnings. I had hoped they might take our expenses (particularly medical) into account but they didn't.

    Any insight would be appreciated.TIA

Sorry to hear you've been waiting so long. I was told my file would probably be looked at in July but then suddenly in June I received notification that my appeal was successful. I had been phoning every few weeks and asked my local TD to put in a phonecall too. Not sure if that made a difference to my waiting time but could be worth a try.
