Planning on private road

Has anyone experience of this? Our proposed site entrance is exiting onto a private road (owned by cousin), and then 90mtrs to the main road. Planner is looking for the road to be "taken in charge" by the council. The cousin is happy to enter local improvement scheme but not to let council take it over. Any way around this?

    Very weird.

They're should be no problem giving permission for an entrance onto a private road once all legal permissions are in place.

Why does the planner want it taken in charge? Any reason given?

Are you reliant on council /IW drainage, foul or waterman? That may explain it

Thanks for yer input. No reason given by the planner, and nothing unusual about the site. It's like they are just making up problems. I guess I'll speak to a local councillor or TD

Trusting all is well after your planning discussion with the local TD, Councillor and your cousin still retains ownership of the road.

If you are to applying for a mortgage has the Bank made any comments on this, recent discussions this was a big red flag.
