Colposcopy, fear

Had a hysterectomy nine years ago, kept my ovaries and cervix. Due to my age now, 52, only have a smear every five years. Five years ago smear was normal. Had my next one this past April, and have been referred to Holles St for a colposcopy this Thursday, I have CIN 3, Severe dyskaryosis. Naturally am very concerned, this could have been brewing for the last five years.

I am also petrified! 25 years ago I was living in UK. had colposcopy and Leep, it was excruciating, though all my smears till this one have been fine.

I want to ask for sedation. What are the chances of getting it? I know I have to go, and I am going, but really REALLY anxious.

If you want sedation they'll give you sedation. But you'll have to have someone to pick you up etc afterwards.
Natural to be anxious about these things but goes without saying try not to be. No point in worrying about the outcome until you know the results. Hopefully it'll be fine.
