New desktops and connecting to stereo receveirs amps

    Hi

    Thought I would post here , I also posted in richer sounds area

    I'm thinking of getting a new desktop but new ones don't seem to have optical out ..only 3.5 mm headphone and audio combo jack . (Not really aware what this implies )

    My current desktop has optical out so just connect hdmi to monitor and optical out to amp

    The question is how the heck do i connect a new desktop to the amp ...the hdmi will go to a monitor which does not have optical out ???
