Squeaking when clutch depressed

    Hi guys,

As the title states, there is a slight but noticeable squeaking noise when the clutch on my 142 Subaru XV is depressed.

What's the score? Bearing? It's only got approx 25k miles. Warranty is still in date but doesn't cover clutch parts.

It was never used for off roading or towing. I simply like the car and the ability to go into a wet field now and again or onto a beach or through snow without ****ting myself about getting stuck. If that's off roading then I'm a chinaman as they say. No green laning, no rough stuff, worst it's seen would be less than the car park at Guns n Roses last weekend. The old Alfa 159 managed that intact!

If it's a clutch throw out bearing or whatever, do I have any chance of a warranty fix or if not what kinda cost am I looking at? It's booked in for next week for an early yearly service specifically because of this.

Sounds like clutch bearing to me.
But I would make a warranty claim with the garage anyway.

Are you sure it's not something around the pedal itself that is making noise?
Regardless, I would assume anything bar a completely worn clutch disc would have to be covered by warranty at that mileage.

Edit: if you mean a continuous noise when pedal is down, then it sounds like trouble.

No its not from the pedal. You can hear it when the window is down. Like a repeated squeak from something that's spinning is the best way I can describe it.
