You can go back in time and change one event in history towards your favour anywhere at anytime (within human existence of course)..

    What is it?

Would block the Gulf War and prevent any future US or UN involvement in Middle-eastern conflicts.

On a personal level I'd knock the drugs on the head a few years sooner than I did.

I'm tempted to say something around the sudden death of my father at an early age but changing one terrible event probably has consequences elsewhere. Some things are inevitable and changing one event may not prevent them at another point in time.

Would that also abort German resentment of the punitive measures of the Treaty of Versailles, rampant nationalism borne out of economic chaos, paranoia about communism and centuries of anti-semitism?

    This is silly.

In a way, we can be sort of 'glad' (use that term very loosely) that 9/11 occured.

If you go on a plane today with your beautiful wife/husband or your mother/father and someone tries to stab them with a knife, they'll be tackled down and possibly even killed by other passengers. All of this is because people do not want a repeat of what happened 16 years ago.

If you went back and prevented sept 11 then the legislation and more importantly, public mentality surrounding aircraft hijackings would have almost certainly remained the same today as it was; which in turn means that yourself and those who you cared about might (although highly unlikely given how rare terrorism was and still is) get sacrificed by Islamic terrorists looking to get lesbian virgins.

As horrible as 9/11 was, I'm glad in a way that it happened. It's made us safer

I would win euromillions. I would urge Bertie Ahern to go into show biz. He could have been Louie Walsh.

    Instead of Hiroshima?

Hiroshima contributed to the end of the war, if you prevented it who's to say many times more Japanese would have died under weeks of conventional bombing.

    Battle of the Boyne

If King James had won, there was a chance that peace could have prevailed in these islands.

Although the Protestants might have become the new rebels, I'd say many of them might have flipped back to Catholicism.
