    Hi all,
Just had to share the great news that Long Eared Owls have successfully bred in my locality again. There was no sign of them last year that I could detect but tonight I was lucky enough to notice one fly past my house.
Further investigation revealed the calls of at least 2 juveniles and as a bonus this year I got to hear the adult call which is far less distinct. I was hearing it for a while and mistook it for the subdued bark of a small terrier dog before it flew past me making a noise almost like a duck's quack. A quick check on YouTube confirmed my suspicions that it was actually the adult call.
It was fantastic to hear them again as I was worried they may have been shot or something when they didn't seem to breed last year.
    Regards.
