    Hi all,

Looking to sell my old car. 04 BMW 320d 2004. Its has 148k miles on the clock and the nct due in July.

It got a new engine at 80k miles.

Its difficult to gauge a price from done deal to be honest.

If I'm not able to sell it whats the best way to scrap it ?

Not much I'd say. Maybe a couple of hundred euro. Horrendous road tax and very hard to insure due to its age..

    Horrendous road tax? It's a 320d,not a 330d!

OP, is it an SE, ES or an M-sport?

Probably worth about €500 with the remaining test. Better off putting it through the test, even if you have a fail sheet detailing what needs doing makes it less risky to a potential buyer. A fresh NCT would make it worth over 1k assuming it's in good condition.

710 a year is still pretty high imo..

I agree with you, it is quite high. I have an e46 320d so I'm used to the tax.

What are the chances of it passing an NCT now?

Exact spec and colour are the 2 biggest contributors to the wide ranging prices.

If you've an immaculate msport in imola red or estoril blue then you're laughing.

However if you've a silver ES with a few scrapes then you've got a virtually sale proof car.

As said you might get a buyer at over a grand for a nice sport model they still look very well. SE with no extras you are looking at 500 quid or so.

I sold an 04 525i for a grand that needed work on a bumper 2 months ago. It was a nicer car than a 320d SE without doubt but it was also thirstier and higher tax. On the balance of it I think you have a 500 quid car on your hands.
