Hi. .just wondering if anyone knows how to tune this tv into saorview. ..when I went to do it there's no ireland in the menu for selecting your country. ..has anyone tuned in saorview on this tv. ..it says that it's capable of getting saorview in the description of it. ...thanks...

Is there a factory reset option in the menu?

I'm not sure. ..I'm in work for the night. ..when I went to put the saorview on it went into a first time installation. ..so I'm not sure if that's the same thing. ..if it is that's when it asks to select your country. ..

Yes, where did you purchase the TV?
Also if the TV was installed using the UK setting the Irish channels if found would be stored in the 800s by default.

Iv just attached a small indoor ariel. ..but I haven't been able to scan for saorview because ireland isn't in the country list. ...the only possible option for the country is. ."other"..but I didn't try that yet. .

It's possible the small aerial isn't good enough if the signal is weak.

Do a scan with other as the region and check in the 800s also after the scan.

I'll try it tomorrow when I'm home. ..I can't find the manual that came with it. ..I think it gave details about how to tune it in in ireland. ..might have to upgrade to an outside ariel alright. ..thanks

That bolded part is actually the capabilties in another country ie the UK as they have far more terrestrial services.

The stations you get in Ireland will be a handful., two of which are in HD. RTE1 and RTE2.

Your indoor aerial might not be suitable depending on your location and the location of the aerial. Where are you in the country.

Try Germany as the location. Works on a box I have.

I have a 32 inch version of JVC (which are just a Currys generic brand as far as I'm aware), I only scanned for Ireland recently myself (previously I had it set to UK for the UK app store) i know there was a firmware update so don't know if Ireland was just added in that firmware as I never checked before. Scan takes a good while and pulls all the junk but once scanned it does sort it into the basic Saorview list and ignores the clutter.

I'd be happy with just the basic channels. .I'm in swords. .I just tried a scan and it's not picking up anything. .it's saying. .no channels found please check your antenna connection. ..so it looks like the indoor ariel won't do it. .looks like I'll have to put up an outdoor ariel. .any recommendations out there?

Mine works off an indoor antenna but you may need an external one in swords, if you try the TV upstairs close to a southwest facing window you may have more luck if you are doing a quick check to see if it pulls anything (even open the window), assuming you hit paydirt an attic antenna may do the job for you, easier to fit and either drop through the ceiling or eaves. Powercity or B&Q do cheap antenna & RG6.

Indoor aerials are a waste of time, money, and electricity. You cannot amplify what is not there. All you will do is amplify the noise.
That FOX aerial claim of 50 miles is misleading, the range depends on the transmitter power and local obstructions.
