Box Insurance while on J1 abroad

    Hi there,

As a novice driver I have car insurance with one of those telematics boxes (BoxyMo). I am going away for the summer on a J1 visa and I've been told I cannot suspend my car insurance until I'm home or even get a partial refund for the months the car isn't in use. This seems highly unfair. After all, My premium was 2000 Euro for the year. Do you think there is any use arguing for better treatment?

I realise I could cancel the insurance but I'm thinking that could effect me getting insured later on as I wouldn't have a years no claims bonus (which as a new driver is probably crucial for me).

    What do you think?
