That's a massive long straight in the mid section, you'd have to think that TD would make up huge time along there.

3:50pm is Irish time. As you can see in link above, they're going out after 16:40 local time.

So, the final day of the 100th Giro with it all still to play for... and the coverage is bumped to Eurosport 2. Hmmm.

Strong mans course from the look of it. Really, Quintana should have been much closer on the lumpier first TT and then expect to lose a fair bit of time on this parcours.

Adam Hansen finishes a record 17th successive Grand Tour, with a broken hand, some man for one man!

Fracture on his palm I think he said? That had to have been some bother to him.

I want Dumoulin to win, he did great in the mountains when it looked like he had really lost it and he never panicked and just did his own pace and rescued it, to have the chance to still win it.

Yep in the Tom camp myself, really think he deserves it and it's good to see a rouleur a la Big Mig in contention in a Grand Tour, be nice to get back to the old days of Climbers v TT men who limit their losses in the mountains.

No mention of bonus seconds for top 3 in stage. Are they used in time trials?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Pinot 25 down on TD already

No. No bonus seconds in the time trial.

As Kelly would say no bonifications in TTs. Dumoulin crushing this. 60k average.

    Looking good for Dumoulin.

I did think Quintana looked slow and the clock says yes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭lissard

31 seconds up after 8km, he'll win by a big margin here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

This may be closer than we think...

    Squeaky bum time!

(Also, Congrats to Big Bob Jungels. Quick Step will be very happy with this Giro)

This is how the TdF should finish rather than a formality with a sprint for the flat guys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

How much adrenaline is being burned through at the moment, especially by TD. He can collapse after. Until then KEEP PEDALLING!

    Can't bear to watch.

Edge of the seat stuff, my little one keeps shouting Maglia Rosa at the TV every time Quintana is shown. I gave up trying to convince her it's not TD :D

Aye but if you look at recent Tour De France GC going into the final day a TT would have had about as much bearing on the result as the procession around the Arc De Triomphe, it's not often you get the stars aligning like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Quintana almost lost it to a barrier. Game over.

Feel sorry for Pinot. Not there today.
