Boundary and planning check

    We are buying a house and we have already had a structural survey done. Now we are being told we have to have a boundary check done and also a planning permission check for the extension that was built of on the house we are buying, is this normal? Our Surveyor says the seller usually does this but our solicitor is saying we need to do it? confused.
