Help identifying what a rear light does

I'm trying to identify a rear light on a 2004 Nissan Micra but I can't get it to light whatever I do. On the left side there is 1 reverse light, one indicator and one brake light, but on the right side, there is 1 red light (that I am trying to identify), one indicator, and one brake light. Could the unknown red light be a 2nd brake light, I was also thinking some sort of rear fog light? The brake lights also light up dimly when the lights are on and then brighter when the brakes are applied so I don't think it's that.

On this link, http://www.micrak12.com/PNGs/ext_large/3.png , it's the top of the three lights on the right/drivers side.

I went out again turned on the fog lights and it was on, I could have sworn I checked that earlier. Thanks
