Nissan Interstar van, how to replace oil

Is there anywhere online I can get advice or instructions on how to change the oil in a Nissan Interstar van?

I'd like a photo if possible showing the van engine and identifying the oil container, and the drain plug.

Is the oil filter removed in order to drain the engine?

Is it possible to get a manual online, from Nissan or from anyone else?

I have searched for hours for this info but I can't find anything.

What year and exact model is it?
    Petrol? etc

    It's a diesel van.
First registered in ireland in 2005, but was in the UK before that. I think it's a 2001 or a 2002 or a 2003 but I don't know how to find out.
I have the registration cert. It says 2005 is year of manufacture but I think it's earlier. (edit. I bought the van in 2010 and have had it since)

Engine size 2,463cc, with 84KW of power. Nissan Interstar, very similar to Renault Master.
    Model/Version (D2 on reg cert) = Interstar 2.5LM 3.5T 115HP

I have a manual which shows how to top up oil and shows drawings of 3 different engine types. It doesn't show the location of the oil filter or the oil drain hole. My engine variant is either G9T, or G9U. (edit: nearly certain now I have a G9U engine)

I think I need 10w/40 or 10w/50 oil but even that is hard to work out from the manual. It says 0w30, 5w30 and 10w30 must never be used in a diesel. I think for Irish temperatures that 10w40 or 10w50 is ok.

I think I can find the oil filter. It is below the engine, right at the lowest point, and it's large and round, bigger than a can of coke for example. It has a ridged outer edge and an arrow showing a direction. I think if I undo that filter that oil will come out.

It'll be messy but I have a pan which I can line with a plastic bag. I did ask a mechanic to do this but I need it done by Friday and they don't have time.

I thought it'd be easier to find the drain hole but there's loads of bolts around the bottom of the sump, and they're all covered in sludge and oil.

Thanks for any and all help!

    OP
Its good to DIY stuff but in your case I think you need some instruction on how to service your van, removing the oil filter won't drain the engine , you need to remove the drain bolt to allow the hot oil to drain completely.
    Then remove the filter.
Refit the drain bolt and filter and refill with the correct amount of oil.
I'd let a professional do this service and then see where you can learn how to do it yourself with some help.

The Nissan Interstar is also known as Vauxhall Movano so you can find help by looking for this instead.

Thanks for that Biko, extremely useful.

I've located the oil drain plug but now I have another stupid problem. I have no socket which fits the drain plug. I have two full socket sets but nothing fits this plug. It's a square hole but it's not 3/8" or 1/2" size. (3/8 is too small and 1/2 is too big.)

edit: I think my sizes are 1/4" and 3/8" now. Halfords sell an 8mm square oil drain plug removal tool. I reckon that's what I need.

I'll ask for one at the motor factors.

I have a Nissan dealer and a motor factors in my town. I'm planning on using the motor factors rather than the dealer.
    edit.

The guy in your video also says that, as it turns out, he needs a square adapter to remove the oil drain plug, He's says he's lucky that he has one from an old car. He doesn't name this adapter but it looks like 1/2" square, like an extension piece from a socket set.

I'm very frustrated at the decisions that Nissan makes.

By combining the window water spray and the window wipers the wipers come on automatically when you use the windscreen water. The wipers drag themselves across a dry windscreen and destroy themselves. I've had to replace them many times. Thanks Nissan.

Nissan use a two part hinge on the back doors. One half of the hinge seizes up and now the doors can't be opened without damaging the light clusters. Great decision Nissan.

Now, special adapters are needed to remove the oil pug. I'm not impressed.

Thanks again Biko for the name of that van variant and the video. I'll ask at the motor factors today for a tool to take out the oil plug.
