Is it possible to purchase the mk5 wishbone bushes seperatly from the complete wishbone? Most sites just have the complete wish bones.

The nct tester has listed: 'Nearside front, foremost' . I assume the foremost bush is the one bolted to the subframe and not the rear one?

You can buy them genuine from VW anyway, not sure about spurious but they aren't very expensive genuine, around €15 each.

Funny the rearmost front wishbone bushes are much more prone to failure in those so it may be no harm to do both if you are getting your hands dirty.

If you plan on getting the bush only you'll need a press or at least a bench mounted vice to fit the new bush into the wishbone.
The complete wishbone is far easier & quicker to fit hence why people usually buy that.

I'd recommend just changing the whole wishbone I changed an individual bush recently and I struggled for a half hour getting the old one out of it and ended up having to bring the wishbone to an engineering place to get the new one pressed on could probably have froze it and got it in myself but lesson learned in future I'll just replace the wishbone.

Thanks guys, I have a press so that's no problem. Have changed lots of Bmw bushings over the years, haven't touched a golf in a long time. I'm just helping a family member out, so will give him both options.

    Thanks again

    Thanks picked one up yesterday.

Normally I would push a bush in on the "outer race" where they are in a metal sleeve, but this one is just rubber. Is it ok to push this in just from the rubber? i see some people pushing these in from the metal inside??

I just had a look at the NCT fail sheet, it looks like the inspector wrote "Nearside" down below but on the diagram has indicated "off-side", is that correct?

I'm guessing its best to change the near side bush??

I think vw make you buy the whole wishbone . But if you ask for bushes for a polo they're the same as a golf far cheaper than whole unit

Vw sell the bushing for the mk5. Changed it yesterday, dropped front of wishbone down, extracted bushing, pulled in new bushing, put wishbone back up...
