mf 390 not starting

    I'm no way mechanically minded...but unfortunately the massey isn't starting.

    its turning over but just not catching. where should I go poking?

    Sounds like it's not getting diesel.

    I'm as bad as yourself.
    Maybe someone else will elaborate on the potential causes.

    I presume you checked there's diesel in her. Make sure the stopper is working on the pump. Is the starter turning over quickly enough as battery might be low.

    There are puffs of smoke coming out of the exhaust when it's turning over so I assumed it was getting diesel

    It does seem to be turning over slower than usual so I may put the batteries on to charge

    Is the starter catching or does it sound lazy?

    is the alternator charging?is the charge light going off when the tractor starts?it could be that the battery is on the way out.mind when your charging a battery with the caps off the cells not to cause a spark as theres hydrogen gas produced when the water in the battery is bubbling when charging.
