Just wanted to post in praise of Sam Harris.

There are few people who I listen to who invariably leave me feeling smarter every time I listen to them.
    Sam Harris is one.

He is incredibly insightful, decent and intellectually honest.
He expresses everything (often complex thoughts) in the most elegant and eloquent way.
And he does it in this understated, mannered way (unlike many other controversialists).

I'd go as far as saying i love this man. Or at least his mind.
Why can't more people be like him?

Just a tad OTT there OP. He's alright like, I wouldn't go out of my way to hear what he has to say either as I wouldn't find him all that interesting.

Couldn't disagree more. Not on the ball at all, a poor man's Vinnie B.

He willfully enabled the rise of the alt-right and now leads the anti-Trump brigade. Disingenuous at best. He's intelligent that's for sure but don't be fooled into thinking he doesn't play both sides.

To be honest I've very little time for any of these "rationalists". Hitchens had his moments where he made me laugh but he still was desperate to let everyone in the room know he was the smartest guy there.

Neil deGraase Tyson on the other hand I can listen to all day. At least he's got a sense of humour.

Sam Harris is sometimes right and sometimes wrong, but at all times he is head wreckingly smug.

While I believe him to be bang on about certain issues (much to the chagrin of Mr Affleck), but he does come across as rather smug (as another user has said).

I think he is says some very interesting things, but he says them in a way that is mind numbingly boring.

    I like this Sam Harris

    He's no Christopher Hitchens.

He's fell afoul of the SJW's in recent years.

He's one of those guys who places fact, logic and reason over emotion in an argument.

He's not somebody who would align to all my political viewpoints by any stretch, but he is "intellectually honest" as the OP mentioned. You have to respect that.
