    Hi Folks!

Looking at getting a used car, thorn between Toyota, Audi or BMW. Budget at about 5k-6k. Quite a bit of travel to work on a daily basis and hoping on a model that would not only bear the usage but easier to sell off when looking at changing or upgrading.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    What models? Petrol or diesel?

    Preferably diesel

Would avoid a BMW diesel in that price range. You would get a nice 07/08 A4 with reasonable mileage for that price, otherwise you'd be looking at an 08/09 Avensis. Personally I'd go for the A4, but it would be a matter of taste - either would be reliable as long as it's not crazy miles or a lemon.

@Gravelly- thanks so much! Will heed your advice. What do you make of Skoda Octavia?

Super reliable (look at the amount of Octavia taxis!) and not too bad a driver - can be hard to pick up one with reasonable mileage as the reputation for reliability means a lot of high mileage drivers buy them. Great car if you can get a right one, just do a history check on it!

Are Toyota diesels engines not made by BMW? Or is that only newer cars? If considering Audi may as well look at vw or skoda as well

Some newer Toyotas are fitted with BMW made engines.
