For someone who is looking to buy a landcruiser in the €5000 - €10,000 approx bracket

Would one better off buying a 2004 model with the 5 speed gearbox or would a 2006/2007 model with the 6 speed be a better buy ?

Buy the earlier ones, check the chassis isn't the one that rusts on the inside skin. Other than that they are bullet proof, a couple of bushes an odd shock and plenty of work for it and you'll be grand. Anyone I know with the 06-7 ones never rated them

I've an '06 landcruiser. Only issue I had with it is the passenger Window can't be opened from the driver's side. Great machine.

Tidy one with low mileage seem hard got. Is it the 06 model that gave injector trouble?

Try playing around with it? Same thing happened to the one I got initially, but it eventually started working after a lot of flicking and pressing window switches etc.

Ya, it was the copper washers in under the injector tips. The initial ones leaked and allowed carbon to build up a sludge in the oil. This caused the engines to fail. That's what I was told anyway. I only found out about it from a guy that was here one day doing work. I rang a Toyota about it and they told me my jeep hadn't been done. Got it done them on the next service with them.
Annoying thing was Toyota seemed to be keeping quiet on the whole issue and only doing them as they arrived in for service. Not good if like me, you serviced your own.

Oil leaks in the transfer box is another thing to watch for.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Which years of Landcruisers had the problem with back door actually falling off!?.....think it's around 2007/2008 vintage.
The door hinges were not strong enough to support the weight of the door.

I remember some one saying they had an 03 swb landcruiser and went to reverse it with a cattle trailer on and didn't put it into low reverse and lifted the clutch out of it ....not sure if it had many cattle in it though or if u have to use low box

I had a problem with key fob of car and was able to reset it using a trick like that. Twas a pain because couldn't start car even with key because it was immobilized.

Think it was turn ignition to ACC THEN hold key fob button down until the door locks clicked

Had to be done from new, but the loophole closed in the last budget.
