Assange rape investigation dropped, arrest warrant remains

Not really dropped though is it, merely put on hold until Assange "makes himself available" so they can "notify him of criminal suspicions against him" and therefore "proceed with the case". In other words, they can't do anything more while he's hiding in the Ecuador embassy. The prosecutor even says in that article that they can resume the investigation at a later date. Also, with the arrest warrant still there, he's still stuck in the embassy as if he leaves he'll arrested and extradited to the US, and the rape case in Sweden will resume. Bottom line, very little has changed. In fact, nothing has changed in terms of his freedom to leave the embassy.

You're right, it's academic. UK Foreign Office has also refused to confirm whether they've received an extradition request from USA or not. Such a fiasco and nothing but unsubstantiated allegations against him.

I stand up for someone's right to be innocent until proven guilty, as I'm sure you would if it happened to you or someone you care about. :)
