    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any other options to get to IBM Damastown from Leixlip. I am currently taking the train to Navan Rd. Parkway and then the 38 Dublin Bus to IBM. It's an awkward commute...are there any private bus services or alternative options?

    Thanks!

Check with IBM, there are, or used to be, private services running around there for workers.

    Would you not cycle it?

Perfect time to start now with the summer.

Why don't you consider getting off a stop earlier at Castleknock station? The 38 is outside. Though I understand you've the added option of 38a and 38d at Navan Rd Pw.
But if you downloaded the Dublin bus app you could be checking if there is a bus due at the stop beside the station.
You could also walk (~5mins) to Blanchardstown Main St which would bring the 38a into play.

There just might be a bus from Coolmine Station - enquire with IBM.

If you can get to Lucan village, you can get the 239 to Blanchardstown. However, only 1 bus per hour.

Not really feasible. Bus to Lucan and one traffic fsck up and you've missed the 239.

The 239 won't get you that much closer to IBM either.

What would be the safest route to cycle? The road from Leixlip to Clonee appears a bit dangerous for cyclists in my opinion... any suggestions? Thanks! :)

    What's the canal path like?

It's terrible between Clonsilla and Castleknock.

Yeah but it's decent from Leixlip Confey (never went any further) to Clonsilla Station. If heading to IBM Damastown you'd leave the towpath at or before Clonsilla I suppose.

The only place to do that, would then take you up to Clonee/Ongar or by Westmanstown (which is a terrible road to cycle on). You'll be going out of your way really.

I used to cycle Hartstown - IBM. There are ways through the housing estates once you use the Clonsilla Link Road and cross the Ongar Distributor and go into Hartstown.

I think from Leixlip the closest one can get to IBM along the canal is Clonsilla Station, no? I would have thought Coolmine is going out of your way, when I look at the map.

Clonsilla is closer yeah. Hansfield a bit closer again but no use from Leixlip on that line.

I used to take the 38 to IBM from Phibsboro, it's an awful bus for getting there because of all the detours through Castleknock, Corduff etc. There might be a few more direct ones, think the 38a doesn't go through Castleknock, but even so it's not great.
