Donedeal ad. Possibly facilitating fraud

Just looking for opinions. I contacted Donedeal about an ad and suggested they pass on the details to An Garda Síochána. They removed the ad but refused to pass on the details stating they have no responsibility in the matter. Are they correct ? I am just interested in your opinions on Donedeal not on me or what I should or should not have done

What aspect of the ad. was potentially fraudulent? If it was a car for sale that you knew had finance outstanding, they don't care.

the ad was looking for something that would facilitate the handling of stolen property but on the other hand could have mis read their intentions. It looked dodgy & Donedeal removed it but then washed their hands of it... Maybe they are correct but I would have thought they would have a civic sense of duty

Why didn't you go to the Gardai? You have as much responsibility as DoneDeal

    At least they removed it.

I know from being involved with adverts.ie that the site can't do this under DP legislation. What needs to happen is someone goes to the Guards with a suspicion or some evidence and the Guards can then officially request data from the site (AKA section 8 request).

There is a well documented procedure for this and adverts (and I'm sure DD also) process such requests frequently.

I love these threads where we aren't allowed to comment or have an opinion if it differs from the OPs :(

    .

That is all I wanted to know. Great to get an informed opinion from someone who is being helpful & not just posting to annoy people.

So now you know that Donedeal can't report it. This does not change the fact that you could have reported it. It's not always someone else's fault

Amazing isnt it! Starts a post which while has numerous sentences actually contains zero information.

God love a poor garda having to figure that out.

..... Kona I presume you just had a bad day at work & need to bully someone to make yourself feel better. Someone had the intelligence to just give their opinion on the question I posed so there was sufficient information there for them but not for you. There are quite a few like you on Boards but mainly in the After hours..

Please read your replies and ask yourself were you trying to be helpful or nasty
