Trip to the US - New Watch?

I'm going to the US during the summer and considering a bit of a splurge on a new watch.

Am typically going to get a better deal in the US than here in Ireland? I'm looking at something like a Tag, Omega or perhaps low end Rolex.

As an example I am considering something along these lines:

    Or perhaps this:

Does anyone have any experience of the tag outlet stores?

Far as I know there are not that many of the TAG outlet stores.. Vegas has one, but the likes of Boston, NY and Chicago don't that I have ever seen.
The outlet stores generally offer good value on older discontinued models but the way the dollar is at the moment the savings are not as good as they used to be!
Try contact them ahead of your visit if you have a specific model in mind to get an idea of pricing. Usually around 20-25% of list price. Which is just as well because as soon as you buy it thats what it will depreciate by :P They are not a brand that holds their value well except for some specific models..

Really? Where are all the cheap Carreras... I've yet to see them...

It's worth giving some thought as to whether you are prepared to shop online; will you have access to an address to which purchases could be sent? Clearly you must be clear in your mind as to what it is that you want and there is still the possibility of a f@ckup and the watch has to be sent back. For example Overstock do used Rolex.

Speaking from personal experience I guess.. I bought the calibre 36 with the zenith el primero movement and lost a significant amount when I went to flip it. Apart from the Monaco its a well held perception among the WIS community that they will devalue a lot more than other premium brands.
You would only need to go as far as adverts if you want a carrera at 50% off the retail price.

Ok so if I was looking for resale value I would be best looking at something like a Rolex or a Omega instead?

Say if I was to buy a Rolex Oyster Perpetual how much would I be expecting to spend on a new one?

Rolex sports for resale value but we're best starting off with what you actually like; resale is all very well but it's best to find a fit between that and what you'll be happy wearing. What's your budget?

Think entry level is around 5300. You might get a small discount of 5%.

Consider below. Withdrawn now but may be still available. Don't know seller personally. Would be good value if you could get it for 3.8k or so.

My budget would probably be €6k max.

I travel to the US a bit, and have looked into pre-owned watches. I've seen very few bargains on the big brands. I have seen far better prices for used Rolexes on Chrono24 and tz-uk than any of the pre-owned places I looked up.

Tag have an outlet store in Woodbury Common outside of NY, you might find something there.

Are Chrono24 and TZ-UK are both legit?

TZ-UK is a forum not unlike boards.ie and they have a dedicated forum for people to sell their watches. Unfortunately, you need at least 50 posts on the forum to view sales corner and 250 to post in sales corner! Its to stop people just using the site for selling and not actually contributing to the forum.

Chrono links sellers with buyers and is a mix of shops and private sellers. I have only ever used it as a reference for ball park pricing for new/pre owned models of a particular brand I might be interested in but I know some people on this forum have used it in the past.

Well, you'll have about €4k after buying a Tag. So buy a Tag and a Speedmaster!

    I do like this -

    https://www.chrono24.co.uk/tagheuer/carrera-calibre-5-day-date-automatic-watch-100-m--id6072933.htm

Obviously much cheaper than the €6k figure I had mentioned above.
