I have a mlais phone here with 16GB internal storage which is all but full.
In the android storage settings there is no detail about what is occupying the space.

I installed disk and storage analyzer but it's not telling me much more.

For anyone that knows the app, it lists usage of sdcard0 at 2.5GB, system at 1.34GB and applications at 11.5GB, which is obviously the problem. However when I tap on the applications section to show the distribution it only shows 2.3

    Any ideas?

Get es file explorer. It'll allow you to properly see how the space is divided up. You should be able to get rid of what's not needed then

    Do not get ES Explorer.

They have been shown to be pretty shady (Chinese company dialing home) (the paid version is OK AFAIK, from some reports).

DiskUsage is a nice app that shows space used and by what in a nice GUI.

Solid Explorer is what I use for a file Explorer

Can sometimes be easier to visualize, using a PC a laptop
Connect to Laptop, use Win Explorer to find large files etc,

You're all missing the point. The manufacturer has done an Oppo and hard coded an apps partition.

Look up XDA to see if anyone has fixed the part tables.

And none of these apps can see that partition?

16G or about 14.9GB real world.

    1.34 Sys
    11.21 Apps
    2.49 SD
    15.04GB

    So thats all it.

The problem is, APK files (the apps themselves) use the apps partition. Their data is stored on SD0. Your pictures are stored on SD0. Your music is cached/stored on SD0. Games etc will store their big files on SD0. FB caches on SD0. Whatsapp caches on SD0. Etc etc.

So they've allocated all the space for apk installs, but basically none for the data you actually want. Amateur hour.

2015 start and still not even 2 pages? Seriously no name. Problem with no names is youll never find a dev willing to fix silly choices like this.

Buy an SD card is all you can do.

I've checked the individual apps and none of them had a cache above 100MB and I cleared them all to no avail. Pictures and music are on the external SD card. No games on it and about 2GB used for APKs, if I understand correctly.

Is it maybe something like the dalvik cache that needs clearing out? It's a non-rooted phone with default ROM and no recovery module.
